Max Schulze Video Sales & Article
Mercredi, 21 Octobre 2009 03:08

Hey,

KH team member Max Schulze is selling DVD copies of some of his vids to raise money for his trip to UNICON in a couple of months.  Check out his letter about it below, and contact KHU for details about how to purchase.

Max' words:

Imagine seeing the entire world, from a pile of rocks to a metal hand railing, as a playground. For me and my unicycle it is.  My name is Max Schulze and I've been unicycling for almost five years and it has become my passion. Through daily practice along with some terrific spills, I am now on a first name basis with the staff of the Los Alamos Emergency room.  What is possible on a unicycle will surprise you perhaps as much as it has surprised me.
There are many styles of unicycling and the ones I enjoy most are trials, street, and flatland.   Street and flatland involve spins or flips on a unicycle on either flat ground or down obstacles like stairs, ledges, or hand rails and involves a lot of creative input to create unique tricks.  Trials, on the other hand, involves no tricks and its main objective is to traverse technically difficult terrain with jumps, leaps, drops, and precise riding skills without falling off or putting down a hand or foot.  Other styles include MUni (mountain unicycling), freestyle (choreographed shows), and long distance touring.

To me unicycling is more than just a unique sport, it is an outlet for my creativity and individuality, and an opportunity to experience the world.  It consumes most of my life next to school (I'm a straight "A" student).  Unicycling doesn’t require much and I can have fun with it under any conditions: alone, with friends, bored, pumped, tired, and even in the rain or snow. Representing Los Alamos at unicycle events in Utah, Minnesota, California, and South Dakota, I've meet some of my best friends. They, like me, not only enjoy unicycle for the sport, but for the opportunity to expand their horizons.

The long hours of practice and commitment are now paying off. In the summer of 2008, I  traveled to NAUCC (North American Unicycling Convention and Championships) in South Dakota.  I placed 1st in speed trials and 3rd in the observed trails. My performance earned me a spot on the Kris Holm Factory Team, one of the best and most well known unicycling teams in the world.  Kris Holm, an awesome guy who I have gotten to ride with on several occasions, is credited with starting the sport and industry of extreme unicycling in the late 1990's.

This last summer my performance at NAUCC 2009 in Minnesota improved to 1st in both speed and observed trials and 2nd in street. This December I've stepped it up and plan on participating in UNICON XV,  the world championships for unicycling being held in Wellington, New Zealand.

If you would like to experience the thrills of world class unicycling, please pick up a copy of my $5 DVD which is available at Otowi Station, CB Fox, Brownell's Hallmark and Camera, Don Taylor's Photography, the Coffee Booth, and Curves for Women .  Proceeds from sale of the DVD’s will be used to support my trip to the world championships. Los Alamos National Bank has graciously established a Unicycling World Championships account to accept donations as well.
