Max Schulze Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA Birthdate: November 28, 1991 Unicycle Disciplines: Trials & Mountain Co-Sponsor: UDC USA Competition Highlights: 2010 Trials World Champion, 2010 High Jump World Champion, and 17-18 age group World Long Jump Champion Max is best known as one of the best trials riders in the world today. He is also a very strong all-rounder with solid muni skills and crossover talents in other outdoor sports including climbing and skiing. Max also has one of the highest unofficial sidehops on record at 136 cm onto a ledge, and tied the official high jump record (115 cm) at UNICON in 2010. When did you start unicycling and why: Back in 2005, my brother and I decided we would get a little unicycle for my dad for Father’s Day. He rode it only a little, so I started riding it. That Christmas my dad got me a 24” Muni. Sometime that winter I discovered the Moab Muni Fest website and that spring I went and met Kris Holm. The rest pretty much follows. Why do you like to ride: Unicycling to me is the epitome of fun. It can be done anywhere and anytime and it also provides opportunities to travel, meet new people, invent new tricks and progress the sport. Other Interests: Telemark Skiing, Science, Trials Biking, Wearing Pants. Any Words of wisdom: When in doubt, jump higher. But have fun.
